Strengthening Our Team: Say Hello to Intern Ray Nichols!

Meet Ray!

Ray Nichols brings fresh energy, sharp legal insight, and a powerful commitment to justice to our team. We’re thrilled to welcome him aboard!

Ray is entering his third year at the William S. Richardson School of Law, where he focuses on family law, litigation, and public interest advocacy. He brings a strong passion for zealous representation and client-centered service, with hopes of continuing on as an Associate at Pacific Island Law LLLC after graduation.

Ray holds a B.A. in History and found his calling in law through a deep commitment to justice and community service. He currently volunteers with Family Programs Hawai‘i’s Project Visitation, supporting sibling groups separated by the foster care system. He also participates in Richardson’s Child Welfare Clinic and serves on the Board of Directors for the NAACP Hawai‘i Chapter. In 2024, he was honored with an interim appointment to the Hawai‘i Civil Rights Commission.

Before pursuing law, Ray served 11 years in the U.S. Army as an Air Traffic Control Chief and Deputy Director of Airspace Management. He led operations in fast-paced environments across Hawai‘i, South Korea, Georgia, and Alabama—experiences that honed his leadership, precision, and resilience.

Ray has gained extensive legal experience through roles as a Judicial Clerk in the First Circuit Court, volunteer in the Hawai‘i Supreme Court chambers, Legislative Aide in the Hawai‘i House of Representatives, and legal intern at both the Hawai‘i Civil Rights Commission and the Hawai‘i Innocence Project. He also previously worked as a legal assistant at a family law firm. These experiences have sharpened his skills in legal research and writing, judicial insight, document preparation, and most importantly empathizing with and advocating for clients.

As a dedicated father, Ray understands the stakes in family law matters. He is committed to protecting what matters most to you and providing compassionate, high-quality legal support every step of the way.
